Why Tampa Bay is harder on equipment than the brochure assumes
- Run hours. Nine cooling months, not five.
- Humidity. Every runtime hour makes condensate, and condensate has to drain. An indoor unit that isn't set perfectly level never drains dry, and the drain clogs again and again.
- Sun and material. Aluminium coils under direct sun develop microcracks that weep refrigerant. Copper holds up far longer.
- Hard water. Irrigation spray onto the condenser corrodes it, even copper, given enough time.
- Lightning. Inverter systems reward a surge protector more than any other equipment on the market.

The cities aren't interchangeable
Wesley Chapel, Lutz, Zephyrhills, Dade City, Tampa and South Tampa differ mostly by water-related code zones. In South Tampa, a home on the water needs the condenser at roughly four feet or higher for flood protection. That isn't a preference; it's what the location requires. It's also why a quote that doesn't ask where you live is a quote from someone who hasn't thought about it.
